NATIONAL SHUFFLEBOARD ASSOCIATION

10 Day Notices

From Bob Zaletel, Second Vice President (4/25/2010)

#1        Purposed Change:  Article V-OFFICERS

The officers of the Association shall be a President, a First Vice-President, a Second Vice-President, a Third Vice-President and a Treasurer.  These positions shall be elected positions by vote of the Board of Directors.  The Secretary and the three (3) Regional Directors shall be appointed by the President.  The President Emeritus, outgoing President, has full voting rights.

Rationale:  This clarifies the process.

-Since the President appoints both the Secretary and the 3 Regional Directors, it follows that the Secretary AND 3 Regional Directors should be members of the Executive Board.

- The current National Letterhead displays the Secretary AND the 3 Regional Directors.

- The By-Law, Article VII, lists the duties of the 3 Regional Directors.

Note - this is under Duties of Officers; hence, this By-Law says they are Officers!

Should this notice pass/be approved, then the following should be deleted:

-          The last sentence of Article IV.

-          The last sentence of Article VI.

-          The last sentence of By-Law Article VII.

 #2        Purposed Change:  Article X, By-Laws - TOURNAMENTS

National Team Tournaments may be held each year.  Awards or prize money may be given.  $1.00 from each entry collected goes to the USANSA.

Rationale:  No current provisions now exist for National Team Tournaments.

 #3        Article X, By-Laws – TOURNAMENTS

The National Executive Officers shall determine the location, date and format of all National Tournaments by majority vote at either the Annual or Semi-Annual Meeting.

Rationale:  The USANSA Board has a more comprehensive view of the National Scene than the Board of Directors.

Also, National Board members have no stake in jurisdiction playing venues outside their state.

From Rosemarie ElRite, Delegate CA (05-06-2010)

#1        Purposed Change:  Schedule the East/West Goodwill Games every two (2) years.

Rationale:  Both the East and West Shuffleboard players are members of the National Shuffleboard Association and as such are members of the ISA.  Changing the current yearly event to every two years would be on the same scheduling basis as the ISA World Singles and the newly named ISA World Cup.

#2        Purposed Change:  Develop “Rules of Event” determining the number of players involved and whether the games will be played as Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Mixed Singles or Doubles.

Rationale:  Although these are “Goodwill Games” and are not to be called Tournament or Challenges, it would be ideal to have a basis for naming a group of players in either division.
